Dear Members: Where is the time going? Each year that goes by seems to pass by faster and faster as I get older. That is when I think back and say “I wish I were a kid again”. I remember days, even months, dragged by so slowly. Now I realize that my life has been filled with such wonderful experiences, which all have a purpose and place in my life. So, I must try and keep up with the passing time, and enjoy the opportunities that await me. 2008 is filled with numerous opportunities for Assistants across the country to participate in continuing their Podiatric education. Our kick- off is in ASPMA’s hometown at the Midwest Podiatry Conference in Chicago, Illinois. This is the largest turnout for Podiatric Assistants .We have three tracks and a hands on Cadaver Workshop for Assistants. Do some sightseeing in the great city of Chicago, and meet our entire board. Then in April we head East and get together again at Region III in Atlantic City, New Jersey. We will be at the Trump Taj Mahal from April 22nd -24th, so I invite you to come and get to know us better. After your lectures, you can take a stroll on the Boardwalk or test your luck out in the casino. Then in July we are taken clear across the country to beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii for the APMA Scientific Program. We will be there from July 23rd-July 27th at the Hawaii Convention Center. Why not take advantage of this beautiful location, and spend some time getting to know us. Those of you that want to take advantage of either the Clinical or Administrative Exam can do so at any of these venues. To see a complete listing of exam locations throughout the year, visit our website at www.aspma.org We welcome our second group of Interns at the Midwest Podiatry Conference. This year we have three new interns who will be working side by side with our board. They will be assisting in the lecture halls, workshops and attend all ASPMA events. It is a great opportunity to see how our board functions in all aspects of enhancing Podiatric Medical Assisting. Why not give it a try, and apply today for next year. Go to our website and fill out an application, it is that easy. This summer I will be completing four years on the Executive Board of ASPMA. When I reflect back on my journey in ASPMA, I am grateful for being chosen to be on the Executive Board. It is an honor and privilege to be here with such a dynamic group of people. The results of our combined efforts are what ASPMA is all about, striving for excellence in medical education for all our members. For this upcoming year as President, I can only make every effort to keep the momentum of ASPMA pushing forward for the benefit of its membership. Respectfully, Nancy E. Diaz, PMAC ASPMA President |
